In February we have two new GP Registrars starting - Dr Bola Owolabi and Dr George Muthoot.

Dr Kate Rowell, a Foundation Doctor finishes at the end of March and is replaced by Dr Joanne Graham.

We now have over 500 patients signed up for appointment and prescription requests via the internet. It is very easy to do, please ask at reception if you want a login and password.

Dr G Pohl joined the Practice last December. Dr Pohl trained as a GP in Rotherham, we had the benefit of her working part-time last summer and now have her working 4 days a week with us. Dr Pohl does medical charity work in Nepal and for 1 or 2 months a year she will be away there.

Dr P Oliver is resigning from the Practice at the end of April. He is leaving to take up full time work in Occupational Medicine. We wish him well and we will miss him.

Dr D Plews has been appointed as GP Medical Advisor to Rotherham Primary Care Trust (PCT). He will be working 2 days a week at the PCT and 2 days a week in the Practice from the beginning of April.

Dr Sukamara has joined the Practice on a temporary basis to cover Dr Plews’ days at the PCT.

We have introduced a new patient “appointment booking in terminal” in reception. This is very popular in other practices and should reduce queues at the reception desk.

We are about to trial the introduction of appointment booking requests via the internet and (some) digital television services. If you would like more information, please contact Mrs J Goddard or Mrs s Lambert our
Practice Administrators for more information or goto

Finally, you may have heard about the plans for the Surgery to be part of a new facility in Wath. We support this. The current favourite scheme is to use the library site and rebuild it with us, Dr Khidhir and Dr Raha, and other services incorporated into it. If you are approached by surveyors/pollsters about this, we would appreciate your support. The Market Surgery is now too small for the number of patients on our list and the range of services we would like to provide.

This is the Quality and Outcomes Framework. Further information and how we have performed (and every other practice in England) can be found at www.gpcontract.co.uk.

We are a Postgraduate and Undergraduate Training Practice.
Vocational Training Scheme (VTS) Registrars are fully qualified doctors training to be general practitioners. These doctors are usually working in the Practice for 6 months.

We will also be having Foundation Doctors. These are newly qualified doctors just starting in training. They will be working in the Practice for 4 months at a time.

We have final year medical students in 8 week periods.

From 1st December 2004 Dr R Butler will be our Foundation doctor.
From 1st April 2005 Dr S Moss will be our Foundation doctor.

From 1st December 2004, Para Medic Emma Holland is with us undertaking  Emergency Care Practitioner Training.

We are trying to recruit a new full or part-time GP, with, unfortunately little success.
