Using our services

SMOKING IS NOT ALLOWED ANYWHERE ON OUR PREMISES.

MOBILE TELEPHONES AND PAGERS MUST BE SWITICHED OFF AS THEY MAY DISTURB OTHER PATIENTS, INTERFERE WITH OUR ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT AND DISRUPT CONSULTATIONS.

Appointments

All surgeries and all clinics (except Well Baby Clinic) are by appointment only.

A separate appointment is needed for each patient.

To make an appointment with either a doctor or nurse, either call in person at Reception or
ring 0844 477 8634 between 8 a.m. and 6.00 p.m. Monday to Friday (except bank holidays).

We are also trialing on-line appointment bookings. Goto http://www.patient.co.uk/surgery.asp for more information. This facility gives you the opportunity to make appointments either by computer (an internet connection is required) or from some digital televison services (check with your supplier). If you would like to register for this, please contact the Practice Manager.

Urgent Medical Problems

If your medical problem is urgent and cannot wait until the next available routine appointment, please inform the Receptionist. Urgent cases are always seen within one working day, but you may not be able to see the doctor of your choice. Please be patient as you may have to wait a while to be seem.

Emergency contraception is available from both doctors and nurses; treatment is best started within 72 hours.

Home Visits

Home visits are reserved for those patients who are genuinely unable to attend at the surgery. In general, most patients can be safely brought to the surgery without causing harm, no matter what the medical problem is.

If you have any doubt about the advisability of attending surgery then please discuss the situation with the doctor on-call or one of the nurses first.

Please telephone for visit requests before 10.30 a.m. Monday to Friday.

Visit requests should be telephoned on our 0870 428 0772 only.

Out of Hours Service

For medical emergencies when we are closed, telephone 0870 428 0772.

You will be answered by the Out of Hours Doctors’ Answering Service.
Rotherham PCT co-ordinate the this service.

You may be asked to attend an emergency Primary Care Centre. Please do so if at  all possible. Making unnecessary visits may prevent the duty doctor from attending other more seriously ill patients promptly.

Telephone Advice

The doctors and nurses are available to give telephone advice. At times you may be asked to leave a contact number and advised when a return call will be made to you.

Please remember to say if your query is urgent.

Prescriptions

We prefer written repeat prescription requests.

Please use the tear-off slip on the side of your repeat  prescription to order your next prescription by marking clearly the items you  require. Leave the completed slip at reception. Your new prescription will  usually be ready to collect in two working days.

When the review date shown on your tear-off slip has expired prescriptions cannot be issued without being re-authorised by a doctor. You may be asked to  make an appointment before receiving further prescriptions.

PLEASE DO NOT TELEPHONE TO CHECK IF YOUR PRESCRIPTION IS READY AS THIS BLOCKS OUR TELEPHONE LINES.

Please enclose a S.A.E. if you want your prescription to be posted to you. Remember to allow a little more time when requesting postal prescriptions so that you do not run out of your medication.

Prescriptions may be ordered by telephone if you are unable to leave your  request slip at reception.

Please telephone on 0870 428 0772 between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday to  Friday and have the correct details of what you require to hand.

Telephone requests for repeat prescriptions cannot be taken in the mornings, as  staff are busy with morning surgery.
